Faheem Mazhar's recent work of music, a composition called "ORBIT" consists of two ragas - "Rageswari" and "Yaman".
'RAGESHWARI' is an hexatonic (khadav), late evening raga of the 'Khamaj thaat'. The mood of this raga is joyous, celebratory and welcoming with warm feelings.

'YAMAN' is an heptatonic (sampuran) evening raga of the 'Kalyan thaat'. The mood of this raga represents the mystery of dusk, transforming melancholy into a ray of hope with optimism.

ORBIT heralds new work from composer / performer Faheem Mazhar, ORBIT fuses Indo-Pakistani classically inspired Raga's with Western Symphonic forms, shifting from morning, noon, evening and night time. Faheem's vocals are joined by soloist Mark Lockett, orchestrated by a ten piece ensemble (gifted Birmingham Conservatoire students), creating a timeless contemporary classic.
ORBIT will be developed to accompany Faheem's future work with Internationally renowned kathak Choreographer Nahid Siddiqui and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
This work also acknowledges the support of a Creative Ambition Award (WMA)
