What would it say?
What secrets and vulnerabilities would be revealed?
This is what My First Universe seeks to find out.
Using the city's latest demographic surveys Woolery/Goldingay interview 100 people who best reflect Coventry's cultural diversity. These individuals are asked to record their recollection of a first time experience. It might be their earliest memory, the first time they flew or their first kiss.
These strips of text are used as the inspiration for a series of creative events, happenings, performances, installations and film. There is a focus on utilising digital media that is inspired by, and becomes the inspiration for this new work.
Woolery/Goldingay is a new partnership between artists Trevor Woolery and Sarah Goldingay. Our work is textual and textural, simple and sonic, vibrant and visual, passionate and performative, inspirational and inspired.

My First Universe[ Coventry Commission ] Trevor Woolery & Sarah Goldingay Live Art | Performance Trevor Woolery is an artist, and filmmaker. His practice often crosses these boundaries whilst searching for new forms of expression, interpretation and representation. His work is saturated in social history and technology, exploring mediums such as installation and cinematic projection. Woolery is intrigued with the notion of place and the way we react/interact with it. Previous work has commented on his ties to the physicality of his environment. Sarah Goldingay trained as a fine artist before specialising in brand development and business strategies for arts organisations, and is now making performance work that combines risk, writing and technology. She is currently working on a number of collaborative projects with performers, writers, artists and filmmakers. |
